Make a Difference Award

The Larine Y. Cowan Make a Difference Award was presented to ESLARP Director Laura Lawson and FAA Dean Robert Graves earlier this month during the 24th Annual Celebration of Diversity breakfast on November 11, held at the I Hotel. Presenting the award to ESLARP was Interim Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Robert Easter, and Menah Pratt-Clarke, Interim Assistant Chancellor and Director of the Office of Equal Opportunity and Access.

Outreach Weekend Report - April 3-4, 2009

Weekend Summary

FAA 291 students spruce up a park, assist a neighborhood group with children activities, build a staircase


Students took part in a spruce-up of Virginia Park, a historic park on the south side of East St. Louis. Students painted the fence along Bond Avenue and the backstop of the baseball diamond, removed graffiti from playground equipment, and planted flowers with local children. The East St. Louis Park District helped coordinate a large cookout for student volunteers and community members on Saturday in Virginia Park. Other FAA 291 students worked with Concerned Citizens of Precinct 12, a neighborhood organization on the north-side of East St. Louis. On Friday they distributed flyers to local residents informing them of the yearly Easter Egg Hunt conducted by CCP12. On Saturday, the students assisted with the Easter Egg Hunt, and additional games and activities for local children, aged 4-14.
