ANDREW BAILEY, JR.

Mr. Bailey was born in St. Louis, Missouri on September 3, 1952. He is; single and a member of the Church of God in Christ where the Elder Shelly Howard is Pastor. Mr. Bailey is courteous, persuasive, loyal, industrious, dependable and responsible.

As a person, "I have grown in the areas of patience, tolerance and respect for others' opinions while dealing with many different academic levels."

My greatest personal achievements are that I have accepted Christ in my life, and have received the Masters Degree in Education and am presently working towards the Doctor of Divinity Degree in Theology.

A personal experience of adversity was while attending classes at SIU-Edwardsville and having very biased instructors, dealing with their prejudices and the prejudices of others in a close class environment. I just hung in there!

My occupation is serving as an Educator for School District 189. The thing that I like best about my occupation is helping my students with their personal problems and talking with students when they return to see me after five years or more.

MEMBERSHIPS: District Youth Director, District Program Chairman and President of Devotion Committee at my church.

My most cherished awards are the Coach of the Year Award at Golden Gardens Schools and various promotions in church organizations.

My hobbies are horseback riding, raising rabbits and poultry and traveling. My favorite television programs are HART TO HART and THE JEFFERSONS. My favorite book is "America, Religions and Religion".

DISCRIMINATION: "An instance of discrimination which occurred to me was during the time I attended school at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. An instructor told me that she felt I was not concerned about the children and that all I wanted to do was to make big money and abuse the children. She made me repeat a class and put the freeze on me. Consequently, her influence on other instructors was damaging to me. I continued in college and kept praying because I was very determined to disprove her and make my goal.

As a child, my punishment was always spankings and not child abuse.

An amusing incident in my family is: I had always threatened to leave home or to run away as a child. But as it stands now, I am still at home and will be the last one to leave.

I live in the Centreville area and here I find the people friendly and peaceful.
