REV. LEE HENRY BRANCH
Rev. Branch was born in Mound Bayou, Mississippi on April 30,1945 .
He is married to Barbara Jackson Branch and their anniversary is
July 25. He is assistant Pastor and member of New Sunny Mount M.B. Church, where Rev.
Donald Hunter is Pastor. He is honest, loyal, industrious, cheerful, practical and
persuasive.
The Branches are parents of four sons and one daughter. The sons are Wayne, 24; Andre, 22; Paul, 11; and Angelo, 4. Jacinta. is 18 and their only daughter.
Both of my sons are in business and they are working at Hill-Behan. My daughter sings
and wants to go into show business.
I have grown in learning to care for others, share with others and respect others.
My greatest personal achievement has been allowing the Lord to come into my life, and
change me from the things I used to do.
An adversity in my life was the use of drugs and being a drug pusher. The Lord changed
all of this, because I was doing fine as a pusher. I was going up in the business. God was
challenged by little ol' me, and I was healed overnight, and here I am, assistant Pastor
of New Sunny Mount M.B. Church.
My occupation is
serving as lead man on the assembly line at the Chrysler Corp. and assistant Pastor of New
Sunny Mount. I like meeting people and sharing experiences because I find they have been
in the same situations I have been in and have met the challenge.
I am a member of the St. Louis County Ministerial Alliance, serving as vice president;
president of Plymouth Block Unit; and coordinator of the Youth Department at New Sunny
Mount.
Awards that I have received have been the State Championship Award in Softball from the
Church; Block Unit Award; an award from the Lion's Football Team for working with the
coaches; and from the United Way in raising money for four consecutive years.
"I don't get a chance to watch much TV, but when I do, I enjoy channel 9 documentaries. I enjoy magazines and newspapers.
Believe it or not, I have never had an incident of discrimination to occur to me.
From the age of 10, 1 worked in my father's business, which was selling ice in the
summer and coal and wood in the winter. I was always a maneuverer. I always had money. I
have always been successful. God is using me now and I an using all of my skills for Him.
You could say that I have led two lives for a great portion of my life. One life was
completely above board, and the other, well, we won't discuss. As a result of always, and
I mean always, obeying my father, I never received any punishment.
"A number of years ago, I was driving a 1950 Falcon. The car had no floorboards in
the back, and you really had to inch along. I made the stop at Newstead and Page. My wife
and sister-in-law were in the car with me, along with one of my sons, Andre. Andre fell
through the floorboards and I drove over him. He was not hurt, but it sure frightened all
of us.
"We live in University City, Missouri. It is a good area to live in. We are close
with the members of our block unit. We are going to something for our graduates. We are a
mixed group -black and white, young and old.
