Arthur St. Clair is defeated
by the Indians (led by Little Turtle and Tecumseh) at Fort Wayne, Indiana.
This means that the Indian wars in Illinois will continue unabated. They
last a total of thirteen years, and in that time roughly ten percent of
the settlers are killed.

Arthur St. Clair
visits Cahokia and informs settlers about the formation of St. Clair
County. He appoints Piggott as one of a panel of five judges. The
two men had lived in the same county back in Pennsylvania. While
serving as a judge, Piggott presided over a number of marriages.
