We
are converting derelict industrial land into a greenway.
This greenway will not simply be another park to sit anonymously among
East Saint Louis' other green spaces.This greenway has been designed to
be a strong commercial venture as well as a beautification venture.
The 6000 X 800 foot development will house up to twenty commercial spaces
to be sold by the city to qualified buyers.
One
qualification, the most important in our mind, is that each potential buyer
of commercial space and the individuals that he or she wishes to employ
must live within the East Saint Louis city limits.
There will also be a built boardwalk which will travel the length of the
development.
A solar powered tram will travel in the middle of the boardwalk the length
of the project.
In this respect the boardwalk will also serve as platform providing access
to tram.
There will be a nominal fare charged to each rider of the tram. Not to
be ignored is the actual green space.
It is our desire to build a dynamic
green area with a number of interesting trees, seasonal displays, sedges,
and other engaging, unique plant materials.
The commercial aspects of this development should exist and thrive subtly
within the landscape.
