The East St. Louis Recreation Trail is a proposed trail created from the conversion of one of the city's many abandoned railroads. The trail will run from the Mississippi River front to the Frank Holten State Park, approximately seven miles. The trail will provide recreation opportunities to those in the region as well as promote tourism and use of the state parks. In addition, the trail will provide economic benefits to the struggling city.
