The expert evaluation of our images look and take into consideration  the visual quality, imageability, order and cultural significance of the various pictures.  Our primary scrutiny surrounded those of town houses, apartments, neighborhoods and playgrounds/parks..
Several factors have affected the rating pattern.  Well kept houses and apartment complexes, surrounded by areas of similar land use with well kept vegetation usually faired better than those that lacked these qualities.  Sidewalks and lots of green also boosted the scores.  Those houses that had less maintenance, deteriorating sidewalks, unkempt lawns, dissimilar adjacent land uses (railroad tracks, large streets, power plants, etc.), littered ground, faired poorly.  In ranking the park areas, those which were well maintained and had variation of vegetation ranked better.  Those with a high abundance of unwanted herbaceous plants, or with garbage littering the way, ranked much poorer.
The goal of our renovation program is to improve the quality of living within Emerson Park.  In the spirit of this, we will repair damaged houses and remove dilapidated houses from the area.  The area opened up from the removal of destroyed houses will allow us to create a park, thus increasing the recreational opportunities and the visual aesthetics of the area.  The renovated houses will also add to a more fulfilling experience within the Emerson Park area.  So we would increase the net aesthetic quality in the area, which would directly benefit those who live in the area and those who travel through it.  These benefits lend credible support for the utilization of the "Turning a New Leaf" Housing Project.
