Native
Bottomland Habitats
Location
Kenneth Hall Park is located in the Landsdowne neighborhood of East St.
Louis. Interstate 64 lies on the south side of the park.

Site Analysis
Some of the analysis of the Hall Park area was done using a Geographic Information
System (GIS). The green areas show parks and open space within the area.
The yellow color shows residential areas. The blue hatched overlay shows
the areas that have the potential to be flooded.
There are many areas in and around the park that are flooded. These areas
have the potential to support native Bottomland plants and animals.
Since the proposed native habitats are to support endangered species, it
is necessary to aquire some land adjacent to the park for a private wildlife
refuge that can be protected from human disturbance. A site visit concluded
that the area from 37th street to 41st street between Bunkum and Monk roads
would be a prime site because of an existing low area with trees and shrubs
and lack of housing.
