Designing Safe Neighborhoods

Residents in all neighborhoods are concerned about crime. Two surveys have been implemented in the Edgemont neighborhood in East St. Louis based on Oscar Newman's theory of Defensible Space (Crime Prevention through Environmental Design). Design implications which reflect the results of these surveys have been created to aid East St. Louis residents in improving the safety of their neighborhood.
