Introduction

The CORO Local Government Day Workshop was a major event that the NTAC participated in as well as a workshop sponsored by Neighbors United for Progress regarding lead-base paint problems in East St. Louis. NTAC worked steadfastly at expanding services to the Enterprise Community of Washington Park by attending a neighborhood meeting facilitated by Operation New Vision.

 

Adventures in Motivation (AIM)

Patricia Nolan, NTAC Community Planner and Craig A. Miller, Sr., NTAC Community Design Specialist had a pre-design meeting with Stanford Scott and Rufus Williams regarding the AIM Action Park. Patricia and Craig surveyed and photo-documented the proposed site for the park. Craig prepared the schematic design for the AIM Action Park and presented the design to the AIM Members.

 

Citizens for theFuture

NTAC provided computer access to the Director of Citizens for the Future, David Wilson. Mr. Wilson created budgets for the organization and used Internet access to research potential funders.

 

Carver Community Center

Craig A. Miller, Sr. met with Carver Community Center board members and CDBG staff regarding roof repairs to be executed at the Carver Community Center.

 

CORO Local Government Day

Patricia Nolan participated as a trainer in the CORO Local Government Day Workshop. Patricia helped organize speakers, prepared background information, and participated in interviews. The East St. Louis and Enterprise Community neighborhood organizations were invited to this workshop.

 

Doris Helping Hand Shelter

Patricia Nolan prepared the 1999 Emergency Shelter Grant Program proposal for funding in the amount of $100,000. This grant is funded by CDBG. Patricia also prepared press releases for the Christmas toy drive.

 

East St. Louis Planning Commission

The NTAC staff met with the East St. Louis Planning Commission.

 

Emerson Park Development Corporation (EPDC)

Patricia Nolan prepared the Neighborworks application and submitted it to the Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation.

 

Empowerment Zone (EZ)

NTAC staff and additional EZ committee members continued working on the comprehensive strategic plan for the Empowerment Zone application.

 

Katherine Dunham Centers for Arts and Humanities

Craig A. Miller, Sr. began preparing the phase two development of the Artisanal Village which will include landscaping.

 

Neighbors United for Progress

Damon Smith and Craig A. Miller, Sr. attended a workshop regarding lead-base paint problems in East St. Louis.

 

Olivette Park Neighborhood Association (OPNA)

Patricia Nolan attended the Olivette Park Neighborhood Association (OPNA) meeting on November 1st and reported expenses for the Halloween party that occurred on October 30th. Ms. Nolan completed the third report to OPNA’s SDOP funder and executed accounting and bookkeeping.

 

Operation New Vision (ONV is a Washington Park Neighborhood Organization)

The NTAC staff attended Operation New Vision’s meeting and discussed program activities.

 

Winstanley/Industry Park Neighborhood Organization (WIPNO)

Craig A. Miller, Sr. is the project coordinator for the 1240/1242 Gaty Avenue Building project. Craig provides basic construction administration services for this project.
