New
Applicants
Evangelist Shari Smith
This
individual woman expressed interest in starting a senior shuttle service. Staff researched existing services by
calling Senior Citizens Activities of St. Clair County (SCA). Once it was ascertained that these services
are already provided NTAC staff provided Ms. Smith with this information and
asked her to contact Senior Citizens Activities to ascertain their interest in
receiving volunteers. This response is
in keeping with new requirements agreed upon with CDBG.
Mt. Mariah Church of God in
Christ
This
church stated that they have a faith-based organization that is interested in
training and counseling men and women with vocational skills. They want to do so by establishing a youth
center, women’s center and day care. However,
they do not currently have a separate 501(c)3 organization nor do they have
significant resources to start such large endeavors. Staff sent a list of current social service providers to the
applicants and asked that they first look into collaborating with existing
entities. This response is in keeping
with new requirements agreed upon with CDBG.
