Weekend Reportby Vicki Eddings, ESLARP Administrative Coordinator
This
weekend we took 55 students to East St. Louis to work on four separate sites.
Approximately 30 students worked to clean-up a one block area of McCasland Avenue.
In addition to the debris clean-up we replaced one wood porch, painted the porch
and replaced the iron railing on another house, painted a concrete fence and
two other porches and foundations. We mowed the entire block and trimmed many
trees and bushes. The 10 students assigned to the lot cleanup on Market Street
cleared two lots and revamped a landscaped area. Mrs. Ferguson was so pleased
she welcomed the students into her home and gave all involved a small gift to
show her appreciation! Gary and a couple of students worked on phase one of
a landscaping plan at Eagle's Nest. Billie's group weeded a playground and painted
a sign and table at Community Mission child care. Resident involvement was high
this weekend.
