[ Update ]
Over thirty volunteers and ten residents worked to clear four lots on Waverly Avenue as part of the Precinct 12 cleanup this past weekend. Student volunteers from Urban Planning and Recreation, Sport and Tourism classes picked up trash, old tires, dead limbs and anything else they came across during the September Outreach Weekend. Precinct 12 leaders/organizers provided lunch on Saturday for the tired volunteers. The students/faculty and staff worked Friday and Saturday on the neighborhood beautification project which is part of a larger neighborhood-wide plan to revitalize the area.
ESLARP's tools were moved to the Village Theater in Centerville. Students helped build shelfing and move and organize the tools.
This class is working on a project to help bring tourists to ESL through family reunions. We are working with the Park District to see how Jones Park might be adapted to that use. This work weekend the class completed a familiarization tour of ESL, closely examined the Jones Park facilities, conducted a focus group with local residents and saw the proposed heritage trail project.
