Mapping and GIS

EGRETS ESLARP faculty and staff have worked to use the vast technological resources of the University in support of East St. Louis community development projects and to provide access to technology to East St. Louis community based organizations. At the forefront of these efforts is a computerized mapping technology known as Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Visitors to the ESLARP website can utilize the East St. Louis Geographic Information Retrieval System (EGRETS), ESLARPís extensive map library, and access a wide variety of census, physical condition and geographic landscape data.

EGRETS has gained national recognition for its innovative presentation of GIS data. Its user-friendly interface allows even computer novices to create detailed maps of East St. Louis and its neighborhoods.
