Design Assistance and Construction

Design Studios in Landscape Architecture and Architecture address design and physical development aspects of buildings and sites. These projects include designs for community centers, affordable housing, senior housing, a light-rail transit node, and a farmers’ market.  In the mid 1990s, after the Emerson Park Development Corporation (EPDC) successfully lobbied to acquire a light-rail stop, studios assisted EPDC to envision transit-oriented development and develop housing prototypes. This initial effort ultimately resulted in the Parson’s Place development, now in its third phase.  More recently, an architecture studio worked with a faith-based organization to design a senior housing facility which assisted the organization in soliciting HUD and other funding.
