I'm a second-year Master's student in the Graduate School of Library and Information Science (GSLIS). I have been involved with ESLARP since Spring 2007, when as a general volunteer I assisted with preliminary work towards the safeguarding of archival material housed in the buildings of the Katherine Dunham Centers for Arts & Humanities in East St. Louis. In Fall 2007 I worked with an Archives Administration class, facilitating a collaboration between the class and the Centers in which students gained hands-on experience and contextual information and the Centers gained an understanding of the archival collection they held and possible ways in which they could successfully care for that collection. In Spring 2008 my work with the Dunham Centers continued as a lead teams of general volunteers to help with the work and assisted museum staff in acquiring material for publicity and marketing.

Currently, I am working with the Archives Administration Class in a collaborative grant-writing project with the Dunham Centers in which the Centers will learn more about funding opportunities and students will gain valuable grant writing experience. Additionally, I am currently working to assess and document the ESLARP archive so that future acquisitions, preservation and digitization can be done at a later date.
