Community - Campus Day of Service

April 5, 2014

On Saturday, April 5th, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign kicked off National Volunteer Week with an inaugural Community-Campus Day of Service. Over 60 students, faculty and staff worked with six community partners on seven projects to complete pre-construction projects, community garden spring preparation projects, flyering in the community, reorganizing classrooms at Tap in Leadership Academy, cataloging choral literature, and preparing a Bee Garden. A big thank you goes out to all who helped on April 5!

Department of Urban and Regional Planning

Hi, my name is Pallavi Nadimpalli; I am a Second Year Masters Student in Urban Planning.  I finished my bachelors in Architecture in the year 2007 from Hyderabad, India.  My primary interest in Urban Planning is in Community Development.

Through my course work here, I have had the opportunity to work on several community development projects.  I have worked on revitalization of community art work in the North End of Champaign and also on an Affordable Housing Project for ACORN Housing Corporation in Englewood, Chicago.  Currently, I am doing my Masters Capstone project on the East Main Street Corridor Redevelopment Project in Galesburg, IL.

I am glad to get the opportunity of working with the GRIP (Gender and Race Intersections in Planning) Lab this year.
