I'm Will Godfrey. I am a third year graduate student working towards a Masters of Architecture degree and a Masters of Science in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering. I received my undergraduate degree, a Bachelors of Science in Architecture Studies, here at the University of Illinois in 2006. I've been in college now for about 8 years, as sad as that sounds. I have professional experience working in both an architecture studio and a structural engineering firm in downtown Chicago, I enjoy the work I do, I just need to graduate!
I have been involved with ESLARP for 3 or 4 years now, first as a general volunteer and, for the past year or so, as a Graduate Assistant. Last year I acted as a community liaison between ESLARP and Catholic Urban Programs (CUP), a religious charity group. My work was focused around the design of a new community center CUP intended to build in East St. Louis. This year I am serving as our Outreach Weekend Coordinator. This means that I get to spend lots of time staring at spreadsheets and harassing the faculty about class rosters. I work closely with Vicki, or really she works while I watch, to make sure that our weekends go as smoothly as possible and the volunteer experience can be a positive one for all our volunteers.
In my free time I ride my bike for Illini Cycling and brew my own beer. I have a black cat named Midnight (creative, I know) that likes to run around in circles on my bed while I'm trying to sleep in it.
